SCHOOL BRIEF INTRODUCTION
Founded in 1787, In the 218 years since, the University has
evolved into an internationally recognized center of learning
and research. It is ranked one of the top public Universities
in United States by various ranking authorities. Its Katz
Graduate School of Business is one of the top business
schools in the world. The University of Pittsburgh is a member of the Association of American Universities, an organization comprising the leading research universities in North America. The University is home to the internationally renowned University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Pitt offers outstanding academic options, including: undergraduate research, the University Honors College, and a wide range of degree programs across its 16 Pittsburgh campus undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools. There are eight graduate and professional schools that offer guaranteed admission to outstanding freshmen. Special programs include the University Center for International Studies certificate programs; the Semester-at-Sea Program; the Engineering Co-Op Education Program; and a wide range of internship and volunteer outreach opportunities. As it is located in the Oakland section of the very livable city of Pittsburgh, Pitt students have easy access to all that the city has to offer in the way of cultural events, professional sports, and other kinds of entertainment.
